November 14

FAMILY & FRIENDS
By Karen Horton

Our deepest heartfelt sympathy goes to Shirley Hansen in the loss of her son Blain Owens who passed away Saturday morning. Please keep Shirley, Don and their family in your prayers.

We are so thrilled to have Don and Mary Jane Butcher back with us again! They moved back from Florida, and have placed membership with this congregation. Most everyone knows Don and Mary Jane, but if you are a new member, please get acquainted with them. They are a very nice couple.

I hope everyone got a chance to get out and enjoy our beautiful weekend! “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” (John Fitzgerald Kennedy) These are the visitors we were blessed with: Breanna & Chelsey Cook (Granby, MO), Dennis & Sandy Hartley (Carthage, MO), Michael & Jeanette Middleton and Courtney & Ethan (Neosho, MO), Ramona Pavlas (Las Vegas, NV), Donal & Hazel Ruminer (Oklahoma City, OK), Brenda Taylor (Tulsa, OK), Mike & Alma Wrinkle (Odessa, TX), Doug & Barbara Claxton (Joplin, MO), Charles LaPorte (Hennessey, OK), Jim Brightwell (Yellville), Chris & Tammy Middleton and Mike & Connie Middleton (Harrison), Arnold & Wanda Pylkas (Searcy), Steve & LaDonna White (Winslow), Ken Bundy and Lori & Brooke Jedlicka (Rogers), Tyler Wise, Kelvin Huffman and Janell Wood (Bentonville), Charles & Nancy Cash, Richard & Diana Mehnert and Brock & Austin and William & Allison Payne (all from Bella Vista), the Mark Story family, Tyler Stroud, and Randy Gibbs.

Those on our sick list or who just need special prayers include: Freddie Banks. He is now at Regency Hospital in Springdale in room 2614. Burl Griggs is at home recovering from back surgery. Jana Reynolds asked that we continue to pray for her brother-in-law, Chris McKinney, who is improving following a liver transplant. Mildred Shelton is having health problems and is need of our prayers. Jeff Oxford has asked for us to pray for a friend of his, Shawn Fuller, who has Hodgkins disease. Continue to remember Mary Montgomery, Mary Kerley, Jennifer Oxford, Ruby Dean, Norma Griggs, Brooke Myers (Randy Adams’ daughter), Ray Pinner, our missionaries and our military. Also continue to pray for John Archer and Josh Mahaffey who both are on a mission trip in South America.

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, let us stop from our busy schedules and take stock of all we have. Count our blessings, name them one by one, and be truly thankful that the Lord has blessed us so abundantly. Reach out to someone who might be lonely, in need of a friend, has no family around, or maybe needs a good meal. Include them in your Thanksgiving festivities. They will be blessed, and so will you.

Ryan Almond will be in Army Basic Training through December. His address is PVT Almond Ryan E.; 4th PLT E-CO 3-13 IN; Ft. Jackson, SC 29207. He would enjoy your cards and letters very much!

Our congregational Thanksgiving Dinner will be November 18th, after morning services. Everyone is invited. Hope you can attend, and they always do a mighty fine job! It is time for us to host the Concordia service on Sunday at 3 PM, and the Village House service Monday at 10 AM. Hope you can attend and help with both of these services.

Don’t forget our Wednesday Night Fellowship Suppers. There is always a sign-up sheet in the foyer. We will be having a devotional next Wednesday and not have a supper. We will not be publishing a bulletin next. Have a great Thanksgiving, enjoy the holiday and drive safely if you are traveling!

Those items needed for Fair Haven Children’s Home are baking soda, spices, pie filling, juice and green beans.

“The joy of living comes from a heart of thanksgiving.” Love you, see you next Lord’s Day.
