Our deepest and heartfelt sympathy goes to the family of Harold Long, his children and his grandchildren. Harold worshipped here at the Bella Vista congregation for many years with his wife Gwen, who also passed away a few years ago. Harold will be greatly missed by us all!
What a beautiful weekend we had! September ending, and October beginning. We were blessed with these visitors: Linda Funk (Wichita, KS), Erica Persels (Pittsburg, KS), Keith & Denise Fry (Raceland, LA), Bob & Patsy Boynton (Whitney, TX), Lori & Brooke Jedlicka and Destiny Bishop (Rogers), Adam & Missi Hight and Darbi, Torin and Quinn (Centerton), Jarred & Hollie Linam and Taylor & Westin (Pea Ridge), Randy Gibbs (Springdale), Bill & Jean Jones (Prescott) and Janell Wood (Bentonville).
Those on our sick list and others just needing special prayers include Richard Mason, who lost his wife Twilla last week. Please keep Richard and the family in your prayers as they grieve. Mary Louise Harris is now at home, following her hospital stay last week. Don Fry and Bob Moser continue to need our prayers on health problems. Also continue to remember Freddie Banks, Norma and Burl Griggs, Chuck Pippin, Jennifer Oxford, Clara Dean Welker, Frances Bontrager, our missionaries and our military.
Had some excitement this Lord’s Day. While everyone was arriving for church we found out we had no electricity or water. Greeting each other in the dark. Everything was orderly, we had an abbreviated service, and then went home. I am happy to say, that our brethren came through like troopers! “Let us be Christ’s true disciples, looking to another’s need, making stony pathways smoother by a gentle word or deed.” (Thorson) “Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5)
Remember John Archer and Josh Mahaffey as they get ready for their trip to Mexico, Columbia and Honduras. If you would like to help Josh with his expenses, make your check to the church and give it to either Josh or the Elders.
Congratulations to Jacob Isaiah Harvey and Caitlin Makensie Hayes who were married last Friday. Jacob is the son of Charles & Cindy Harvey and Caitlin is the daughter of John Hayes and the late Rhonda Hayes. Be sure and congratulate the new bride and groom. We wish you both many years of a happy marriage!
A big thank you to Don Persels for his work on improving our sound system and the training of the operators, and thanks to each of them for taking the time to serve our congregation each service. Thanks to all who came to work around the building, cleaning, painting, installing new light bulbs and cleaning out the garage. We love you and your service to our Lord.
Congratulations to Gladys Watson on her 98th birthday! We love you Gladys, you are one special lady!
Heather Cooper would like to remind you that it is time for the Community Kid’s Closet Full Campaign. This is a wonderful opportunity to help the kids in our local community. See the bulletin board in the foyer for the Children’s Needs Tickets. There will be a bin under the bulletin board for the clothing, and be sure to return the clothing with your ticket and sales receipt. This helps let them know where each child’s clothing goes, and if anything needs to be exchanged. The clothing needs to be here by October 14th for the children.
You are invited to the Altrusa Club Spaghetti Dinner on October 11th, from 5 to 7 PM at the First United Methodist Church at 2nd & “A” Street in Bentonville. Proceeds from this annual event purchase free dictionaries for 3rd grade students in Bella Vista, Bentonville and Gravette. Tax deducible donations are welcome.
The Bentonville Congregation invites you also to their 75th Homecoming next Sunday. They especially want all their previous members to come, but everyone is welcome.
If you are planning to attend the Church of Christ Weekend at Silver Dollar City, check the bulletin board in the foyer or see Liz for more information about Sunday services, discounted tickets, parking and etc.
Those items needed for Fair Haven Children’s Home are 30-gallon trash bags, salad dressings, taco seasoning and canned chili.
“In a world that couldn’t care less, we are to be people who couldn’t care more.” Love you, see you next Lord’s Day.
